Why did Albom bring Chika to America in the memoir, Finding Chika?

When it was discovered that Chika had a mass in her brain that Haitian doctors could not treat, Albom arranged for Chika to come to America. He hoped that because America had better doctors and medical equipment, Chika could be cured there.
