What is the author's tone in the book, Final Gifts: Understanding the Special Awareness, Needs and Communications of the Dying?

The tone of the text is cool and straightforward. Obviously, the topic is difficult to treat without emotion and some pathos, but the authors do an exceptional job of ensuring that the text does not become maudlin. In general, the tone is maintained on an even keel and is one of caring insight and concern, but one free of political or social agendas. The tone is remarkably refreshing given the topics involved and is absolutely one of the most significant strengths of the text.
