Hrant Dink was a Turkish journalist gunned down on the street outside his office for “daring to raise a subject that is forbidden in Turkey—the 1915 genocide of Armenians” (4). Roy mentions Dink’s legacy in both the introduction and the chapter titled “Listening to Grasshoppers.” Roy claims that Dink’s death will not silence - but rather further spread - information and awareness of the 1915 genocide.
