What is the message about importance of family?

In the play, Fences, we observe the struggles Troy faces in attempting to be a father and husband. Before his death, Troy's family has fallen apart. He's had an affair, fathered a child with his mistress, and alienated his son. By the end of the play, however, it also becomes obvious that the family has established a special cohesion, regardless of the fact that Troy's actions caused such damage, the remaining family members develop a strong bond.... they have grown as a result of experiencing Troy's mistakes.
