Maya and Grace relate to two experiences that Alice has in her adventures in Alice in Wonderland. Maya fantasizes that she takes a potion and becomes very large so that her arms and legs burst through the windows of her home, where she barely fits. Likewise, Maya does not feel like she fits in her home. When her parents fight, she says that she wishes that she could smash the windows and destroy the home like Alice did. Likewise, when Grace feels as if she is losing control, she imagines herself like a shrunken Alice that falls into a bottle and gets washed out to sea. Alice represents Maya and Grace's feelings, particularly when they are overwhelmed and feel as if circumstances are occurring that are outside of their control.
