When Grace hears a recording of a baby cry, it immediately reminds her of Peach. The baby cry represents the sound she made when she came into the world, what Grace calls a battle cry. Grace thinks that Peach entered the world triumphantly, as a perfect person unlike herself. The baby cry represents both pain and strength. It reminds her of the pain she felt when she had to give Peach away, but also Peach's perseverance into a better future that gives Grace strength to fight for Peach's honor.
