Animal and nature imagery are repeated through the novel. Clarisse reawakens Montag to nature. She gets him to taste the rain and escape the city. Many of the devices used by the state to maintain the status quo use animal imagery like the Electric-Eyed Snake machine and the Mechanical Hound.
