Fahrenheit 451

3. What is the main conflict of the book?

In some cases characters may have to fight an enemy, or face some sort of opposition, either internal or external. What issue does the main character(s) face or deal with?

The story's man conflict is man versus society. The main character, Montag, struggles against the oppression of his dystopian world, a place where books and banned and burned, individual thought is condemned, and technology has taken the place of friends and family.
