As the things of paradise are described, similes are not used, but a sense of magic and, again, freedom is imparted by the use of direct metaphors. The insects are not like jewels; they are jewels. Rain is the hair of a willow tree. Birds are simple miracles. The startling images are presented too in a matter-of-fact way to emphasize that this blissful world is simply the way things are, a harmonious and perfect paradise.
