The novel is written in the third person point of view. The narration moves from character to character, often focusing on the criminal, Michael Bekker, and the cop, Lucas Davenport. The multiple viewpoints allow the reader to see both the motives of the criminal as well as the procedures the cop uses to find the criminal.
