Who is The Huntsman?

The huntsman is a symbol for the inspector who tracks down his prey and captures him. Just as a hunter will stalk his prey in the woods or field, so Inspector Escherich is a man who loves to hunt criminals. The fun is in the chase, analyzing clues and tracking down the culprit. He is not even interested in what happens to his catch afterward, he simply wants to hunt them down.
