Acceptance is an important part of the life of a teenager and the characters of this story are no different. The theme is seen most strongly in Haven. Haven is basically ignored at home. Her parents are seldom interested or involved in her life which prompted her decision to begin dressing in the matter of the Goth. Even that got her little attention.
