What challenges does Esperanza face in chapter 9

Esperanza's mother is very sick. The doctor arrives again, Mama has worsened, and he explains that she needs to go to a hospital. Her physical condition is deteriorating, and she also is depressed. Esperanza's first job is cutting eyes from potatoes and putting them into bags to be planted in the fields. She is very concerned about doing a good job, as that is the only way she can continue to get work. Plus, she knows she is too young to be doing this work, so it is very important that she do the work well and not attract attention to herself.
