So why the word 'recovering' is ironic in below text?

'Ah, poor Miss Taylor! She would be very glad to stay.'

There was no recovering miss Taylor. _ nor much likelihood of ceasing to pity her; but a few weeks brought some alleviation to Mr Woodhouse.

I believe recovering alludes to getting her back.... having her serve in her position as governess. This is ironic, as she is now a married woman, who no longer needs to seek service in the home of another.
