In the book "Elijah of Buxton", what are some of Mr. Leroy's character traits?

Mr. Leroy is a hardworking, family man. He is a large man with a broken, who wants nothing more than to reunite with his family. Sadly, Leroy is in poor health, and when Mrs. Holton gives him the money he needs to buy back his family it is stolden. In the end, he is anxious, heartbroken man.
