How does the author use foreshadowing in Earthborn?

In Chapter One, the reader is introduced to the idea that Akma is hungry..... hungry for respect, for truth, and even for revenge against the Digger taskmasters. This concept foreshadows the darker elements of Akma's character that later develop later in the story, as his hunger for respect and for truth is left unfulfilled.
