Caitlin meets Rogerson Biscoe at a party where he is selling drugs. His parents are wealthy, and his father is abusive. By the time Rogerson meets Caitlin, he's already been in trouble with the police and is on probation, performing community service. He is described as a brilliant, young man, who can produce answers to a myriad of trivia questions and gets good grades in school, but who lacks the motivation to do anything with that brilliance. Rogerson is deals drugs for money, possibly because his parents refuse to assist him financially. and it may be that his unsympathetic parents refuse to give him anything. As a victim of his father's abuse, Roberson continues the cycle in his abuse of Caitlin. He is manipulative; Caitlin is vulnerable. He is even able to alienate her, encouraging her to believe that she is at fault for the abuse.
