Why did Dracula have the boxes of dirt from Transylvania delivered to London?

Dracula has fifty boxes of Transylvanian soil shipped to his new residence in London, Carfax Abbey. The soil will provide him with a home away from home. He also places coffin homes around London in order to have safe havens for him while he is there.
