Who is Joe Fitzgerald from Donnie Brasco and what is their importance?

Joe Fitzgerald, more commonly known as Joe Fritz, is an undercover agent with the FBI. Although w are never given his real name is never given, we do learn that he works in Miami, FL. Over the course of the novel, Pistone assists with a case he's working on while undercover as Brasco.
