Ch 16 External conflict: Leila talks about her mother's constant matchmaking attempts. She understands her mother is doing what she thinks is right.

Internal conflict: On Monday, Amal reads a news article about extremists, and hates that people seem to believe these are representative of Muslims in general. Tia makes a rude remark, saying Amal must be ashamed because of the actions of some Muslims. Tia makes a similar remark on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Adam says he watched a documentary about the 9-11 attacks on America. Amal is angry, saying she is not responsible for other Muslims, and that anyone who is “going around blowing people to smithereens” (Location 1711) cannot be a holy person. Amal explains her short temper by pointing out that it is difficult to be a Muslim in modern times because of the attitudes.
