Ambitious pride is another theme. Commander Trevor Strathmore is a prideful man, who suffered a severe blow to his career when it was exposed that he had created a back door to an NSA-designed encryption program that was to become a national standard. This controversy caused a public outcry and Strathmore had to defend his case before Congress, arguing that one day the public would regret its demand for privacy.
