Why does Greg think he is not supposed to be an athlete in the book, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Big Shot?

Greg thinks that he is not supposed to be an athlete. Athletes are supposed to be born with special genes that make them good at sports. If that is the case, Greg was born without them. When it comes to playing sports, it seems like his job is to make everyone else look good.
