In Chapter One, Lena is ninety-five days away from turning eighteen and having the procedure to cure her of ever being infected with love. She know this procedure has something to do with her mother's suicide, and she saw how it changed her older sister Rachel after having it done 9 years ago. Understandably, Lena is nervous about having it done, but believes she will be relieved and it's over.
