When Tim enters the cabin, Poirot tells him that his friend at Scotland Yard has been telling him about jewel thieves that are switching the real pieces out for imitations. Poirot's friend thinks it is two people with social status. In other words, it is in an inside job. Poirot tells Tim that Joanna mailed him the imitation pearls in a hollowed out book. He hid the real pearls in his rosary beads that unscrew. Tim admits that he switched out the real pearls for the imitation ones the night of Linnet's death but says he doesn't know if she was dead or alive when he did it. Poirot tells Tim that Rosalie saw him leaving Linnet's cabin, but when they call for Rosalie, she won't admit it. As they leave the room, Tim grabs the box containing the fake pearls. He tells Rosalie he'll switch them out for the real pearls. He then professes his love for Rosalie and they go to tell Mrs. Allerton they are going to be together. Mrs. Allerton is happy they are going to be together and Rosalie says that she's always wished, but doesn't finish her sentence.
