In Chapter Five, Justyce experiences intense, internal conflict when he finds himself torn between two groups at the Halloween party. Namely, his friends from school, and the people he’s known all his life. In this section, the author illustrates the reasons that Justyce never feels as if he belongs.... he chooses to associate with his prep school friends, and yet, he obviously doesn’t feel completely comfortable with them. At the same time, he doesn’t want to associate or be associated with the Black Jihad either, something that leaves him feeling alone and isolated.
