What is the setting of Deadline by Chris Crutcher?

This novel takes place in the very small town of Trout, Idaho. The town has only 983 people so everyone pretty much knows everyone. This is an important part of the story because it shows how close Ben is to the people in his life. Using small-town trust, the doctor takes Ben on a flight to Denver to show him has serious his illness is. The teachers in the school are involved with the students in their home life so it's not unusual for Coach to be such a big part of Ben and Cody's life. The school itself has only 93 students.
