Dead Poets Society

What role do the adult males in the film play in relation to the students growth and development?Mr. Keating? Neil's father? Head Teacher?

Relat their behaviors/characters to the psycosocail stages of adulthood, middle adulthood, and old age.

Mr Keating leads the boys into finding out their destiny, what they are basically interested in. He trys to convince Neil into talking to his dad about his dreams of being an actor. As for Neil's father, he pretty much holds Neil back for something he loves and may even be good at. As a result of talking to his dad, his father still does not agree with Neil's choice, so Neil decides if he can not follow his dream, then there is nothing worth living for. You can pretty much blame Neil's father for the tragedy that played out. Of course Neil's mother does not help out much, she does not try to talk to her husband about her sons dreams and ambitions. Now the head teacher, is pretty much just like most of the kids' fathers. He does not want them to think for them selves. As well as he expects things out of them that they do not want.
