How does the author use foreshadowing in Darkest Hour?

In Chapter One, Suze discovers that Jack Slater also sees dead people, and the relationship she has as his babysitter will completely change. This foreshadows
the way Jack and Suze will work together to help various ghosts at the hotel work out their problems in this life, so they can finally move on to the afterlife.
