The hunger strike supported those who'd been fired from their jobs for refusing lunch that was nothing more than broth. The sewing factory provided their workers with soup for lunch. Unfortunately, all the vegetable were stolen from the soup before it was served to the workers. The strike was important because it was a show of solidarity.
