The Dance of the Gods is told in the form of omniscient third person narration, or involved author narration, where the point of view moves easily and seamlessly from one character to the next. Most of the story is told in the form of dialogue between two or more characters, usually within the Circle of Six.

The Dance of the Gods is structured as a mainstream novel, beginning with a prologue that introduces the reader to a story already begun. The Dance of the Gods is a complete story and is the second book of a bigger story told by the entire trilogy of the Circle Trilogy. The prologue is mandatory to establish a drama already begun between the humans and Lilith, the vampire Queen, in Book One of the Trilogy, Morrigan's Cross.
