Da is structured as a series of memory scenes, which function like flashbacks in a movie. The play opens Just after Charlie has attended Da's funeral, and the entrance of his ghost sparks a series of memories. These memory scenes do not occur in chronological order, rather, they move from memories of Charlie at age seventeen, to age nineteen, to age seven, to age thirty, to age twenty-three, and to his late thirties.
