The BMW Motorcycle becomes a metaphor for for change. The BMW motorcycle is what Sergeant Zemui drives to Missing Hospital while he is having an affair with Rosina. Marion has always admired the motorcycle and the man driving it, but his admiration wanes when he learns about the affair. After Sergeant Zemui dies, a rebel soldier comes to steal the motorcycle, threatening the family. Claiming that he is the only one who can drive the motorcycle, Marion gives the soldier driving instructions that trick him into driving off the cliff, killing him.
