How does the focus of the novel shift at the beginning of Book Two? Who becomes a secondary protagonist and when does their story start?

The beginning of Book Two shifts the focus back to the Natal province where Kumalo is from. It follows James Jarvis, the father of Arthur, and rewinds time a little, returning to the few moments before James finds out about his son’s murder. The Book then mainly follows James on his journey to understand his slightly estranged son better in the wake of his death.
