Christina Rossetti is an English poet who wrote during the latter half of the nineteenth century. Her career preceded Woolf's by roughly 30 years. Woolf quotes Rossetti when she illustrates the wandering of the mind by comparing a sign at King's Cross Station to the opening lines of a famous Rossetti poem, "Passing Away, Saith the World."
