Spring, Texas, was Simone's home from the time that she is adopted by her grandparents onwards. As the title of Chapter Three, True Home, emphasizes, Biles sees Spring as a place in which she could truly be herself and live surrounded by family members and loved ones. Coming to Spring symbolized the end of a long period of instability in foster care because Simone was finally being entrusted to the care of her grandparents. As the place in which she grew up, Spring holds incredible emotional significance for Simone and is associated with her growth and development as a person.
