When Nabil and Rita find the remains of a charred Iraqi boy in a crater left by an American bomb that failed to hit its target, the Iraqis view his death as proof of the American's empty promises that precision bombs that would only kill Saddam and his friends. "Why are they doing this?" one boy at the bombing site exclaims (188). "What did these people do?"
