Mina structures Anna’s story as a frame story around the podcast about Leon’s death. This podcast provides a good deal of exposition about the mystery of the Dana in a way that makes it more interesting than just a long portion of historical narration would have been. Mina wraps exposition about Anna’s life in around episodes of this podcast, describing her addiction with reading, how she came to be with Fin, and why they decided to begin investigating Leon’s murder.
