Kandinsky uses the imagery of a spiritual triangle, which involves various constantly struggling efforts in his view of art and the world. Human striving changes this triangle, although certain endeavors can be misunderstood. Beethoven as part of this triangle achieved the level that few managed to attain, but his genius was only recognized after his death. The advancement of the triangle is only possible through the ability to see beyond certain limits in artistic struggle. As Kandinsky regards true art as part of spiritual life, he considers struggle as most important and compares it to a struggle against sinking.
