Who is Father Leo Geary from Cold Fire and what is their importance?

Father Leo Geary is the priest at the Father of Our Lady of the Desert church. He takes Jim in and cares for him when he appears dehydrated and on the verge of sunstroke. It is Father Geary who nurses Jim back to health. Geary is described as a gentle man, and it is through Father Geary that Jim regains his faith in God.
