What are Automatons?

Automatons are robot-like creatures that Mortmain is fond of creating. These creatures are used by Mortmain to be his bodyguards and his henchmen as he wages a one man war against the Shadowhunters. Toward the end of the novel, Mortmain creates automatons that are infused with the spirits of demons and impossible to kill with Shadowhunter weapons.
