In 1975, a Birmingham newspaper reporter, Frank Sikora, contacted her after doing library research. He wrote a story about her, and then several more stories were written after that. Colvin was still presented as an immature teenager and people had said she was pregnant when she was arrested (she was not). But in 2005, she accepted a ticket home to speak to high school students. The recognition made her feel wonderful and that young people wanted to know about her.
