What is the author's style in City by Clifford D. Simak?

Simak uses the third person point of view, which makes everyone's viewpoint and thoughts known. He also manages to get his point across without long tales and without a lot of description. Simak describes events and people but does it in such a manner that we get the idea without huge narratives.
