Honor is a recurring idea. The Vampires and the Vampaneze live by a strict code of honor. Neither of the clans will lie when questioned or use any weapons other than a hand weapon. This honor is shown by the way they fight. It is also obvious that there are other types of honor involved in the Vampire life. When Darren is confronted with the quest to kill the Vampaneze Lord he comments in his narration that after living six years with the Vampires he could not even consider not going on a mission, even one as dangerous as this, because of Vampire honor.
