The language used in Circus of the Damned tends to be relatively informal and relies a great deal on dialogue between the characters. Although Anita is a professional animator and vampire slayer, the jargon used on the job is not difficult or something that requires much explanation. The tools used by Anita are common, and there is little need for explanation of unfamiliar terms. Even the references to the lycanthropes, lamias, and human servants are relatively self-explanatory.
