After the birth of her child, Celianne is completely silent.... just like the stillborn child she has just given birth to. Her silence is a symbol of death.... her spiritual death, which occurred when the soldiers broke into Celianne's room and raped her. When Celianne tosses her stillborn child into the raging sea, she immediately follows..... her death is now complete..... figuratively and literally.
