Who is Satan from Catechism of the Catholic Church and what is their importance?

Satan is the chief adversary of God and humanity. The Catholic Church names him a murderer and a liar. He is a fallen angel, who remains subordinate to God but is very powerful. He must be defeated for the Earth and humanity to be released from the reality of Death.
