The Arthouse Movie Theatre where Margot works plays an important role in the story because it is where Robert and Margot first meet. It provides the basis for some of the initial misunderstandings between Robert and Margot by convincing Robert that Margot has highbrow cinematic tastes and, in Margot’s opinion, leading to him feeling insulted when she suggests going to the Multiplex for their date.
