Who is Lucius Sergius Catilina from Caesar's Women and what is their importance?

Lucius Sergius Catilina is a man caught between a rock and a hard place. After being publically humiliated by Catilina, he is then accused by the Senate of plotting to cancel debts and do away with the Senate. As a result, Catilina leaves Rome. He is later tracked down and executed.
