Much of the narrative is a metaphor for rage. Rage, or extreme anger, is central in the novel BURNT OFFERINGS, by Laurell K. Hamilton. The main character, Anita Blake often responds to situations in anger, reacting in defense of others, many times with no thought to her own safety or consequences. It is rage, however, that fuels Anita at the most pivotal parts of the novel.
