Rosalinda’s journey symbolizes the courage of immigrants, as well as the hardships of immigrant experiences. Rosalinda traveled many miles—mostly on foot—in order to immigrate to the United States in pursuit of a better life. Roalinda also suffered many traumatic experiences during her journey, experiences that haunted her for the rest of her life. Rosalinda, however, was grateful for the generally stable life she could provide for herself and her children in the United States.
